See how a 10-day Tanzania safari and Zanzibar holiday can be structured, what to prioritize, where transfers fit and how to balance wildlife with beach time.

10 Days Tanzania Safari & Zanzibar
A ten-day safari-and-beach trip can balance northern Tanzania wildlife with a short Zanzibar stay, but the route should be kept focused. The most practical plan depends on whether arrival and departure flights use Kilimanjaro International Airport, Arusha, Zanzibar or another connection.
Days 1–2: arrival and northern safari start
After arrival, an overnight in Arusha or Moshi can provide time to recover before driving toward Tarangire or Lake Manyara. Tarangire is especially useful for elephant-focused game viewing and landscapes of baobab woodland.
Days 3–5: Serengeti
Serengeti deserves enough time to justify the transfer. Two or more nights allow better game-drive coverage than a rushed single overnight. The best sector can change with season and wildlife movement.
Day 6: Ngorongoro
Ngorongoro can be planned before or after Serengeti depending on the direction of travel. A crater game drive is often combined with an overnight in the highlands or onward travel toward Arusha.
Days 7–9: Zanzibar
A flight connection can move the trip from safari to the island. Choose between Stone Town, the northern beaches or the east and southeast coast depending on the type of beach stay and activities preferred.
Day 10: departure
Departure planning should account for hotel checkout, road transfer to Zanzibar airport and the timing of the onward international flight.
What to customize
Travelers can adjust the balance by adding more Serengeti time, extending Zanzibar, choosing different accommodation levels or replacing one park with another. Ruhala can build the final day-by-day plan from your flight dates.
